Wireless electricity!

Popularized by Nikola Tesla at the turn of the 20th century, many of us have fantasized about a life with less chords. Transmitting electricity wirelessly presents some unique challenges, but the Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency is working hard to develop the technology for their most ambitious project to date. Every month this column shines a light on the technology of our future- this installment of Fireside Chats' is on JAEA’s Space Solar Power Systems Project.

The SSPS project is a fascinating solution to Earth’s energy needs. Solar energy will be collected at a power plant in space and then wirelessly transmitted to Earth in the form of microwaves or laser beams. Collecting solar energy in space is more efficient than on Earth due to a few factors. A power plant in space is not affected by our atmosphere, weather, time of day, and seasons. As an added benefit, emissions in the form of CO2 are produced in space rather than inside our atmosphere.

If the SSPS project successfully advances wireless energy transmission technology, we may be able to accomplish additional industrial and commercial improvements. For example, this technology could allow us to send electricity to a remote region after a disaster or an area where there is not an electrical infrastructure such as Antarctica or a platform in the ocean. On a smaller scale, we may be able to create a better way to charge electric cars or other types of machines including Transformers

Have you ever thought about adding a little bit more than just your articles?
I mean, what you say is fundamental and all. Nevertheless imagine if you added
some great graphics or videos to give your posts more, "pop"!

Your content is excellent but with images and videos,
this site could certainly be one of the most beneficial
    in its niche. Terrific blog!

I know this if off topic but I'm looking into starting my own weblog and was wondering what all
is needed to get set up? I'm assuming having a blog like yours would cost a pretty penny?
I'm not very web savvy so I'm not 100% certain. Any
recommendations or advice would be greatly appreciated.
    Many thanks

Amazing blog! Do you have any tips and hints for aspiring writers?
I'm planning to start my own site soon but I'm a little
lost on everything. Would you advise starting with a free platform like Wordpress or go
for a paid option? There are so many choices
out there that I'm totally overwhelmed .. Any ideas?
    Kudos!

After I initially commented I seem to have clicked the -Notify me when new comments are added- checkbox and
now every time a comment is added I get 4 emails with the exact same
comment. There has to be a means you are able to remove me from that service?
    Thank you!
